🚍 Basin Transit Service – Rider Update for Klamath Falls 🚍 At Basin Transit Service, we’re proud to support mobility across Klamath Falls and our surrounding rural communities. With rising fuel costs impacting rural transit systems nationwide, we’ve strategically assigned more fuel-efficient vehicles to our main lines and feeder routes—routes that would otherwise require less efficient vehicles. This approach helps us maintain service levels while offsetting an estimated $90,000 increase in fuel expenses. As we’ve made this adjustment, we’ve identified an operational challenge: the ADA lift design and operation on some vehicles is adding about 8 minutes of delay on certain routes. We understand how important on-time service is—especially in a rural system where options can be limited. Our team is actively using data to evaluate route performance, boarding times, and operational adjustments to reduce delays. 💡 A community effort makes a difference: As shown in the image attached to this post, improving service efficiency is something we can do together.
