Below you will find two tutorials. The first gives an overview of riding a bus and the second describes making a transfer on our bus system.
Riding the Bus
Understanding the schedule information is really easy once you have the “secret”. This tutorial is going
to give you that secret. If you don’t know any of the local streets or landmarks, we’re in trouble already.
Just skip ahead and call the office for help.
First you must read all of the schedule information and not skip ahead. The top of the page contains the
information about where the route starts. All of the information below that is the bus driving along the
route.
Second, all of the times shown are “minutes after the hour”.
A shown time of :15 means 8:15; 9:15; 10:15; 11:15; etc.,etc.
For instance. In this schedule sample the bus route is Mainline # 1 South. This means the bus is traveling
heading south from it’s starting point at OIT. The schedule shows the bus on Almond and at
Dr. Benson’s at :19. This simply indicates the bus is at that bus stop at 19 minutes after every hour.
The next stop is on Biehn St at Dr. Faye’s Office at :22. By following these stops you can easily determine
the bus travel direction. Note that the bus had 3 minutes to travel from Dr. Benson’s to Dr. Faye’s. Follow
the schedule along the route and you will be able to find the stop closest to your home and your destination.
SAMPLE:
Mainline #1 South
First Bus at O.I.T. @ 7:17AM Last Bus Leaves @ 7:17PM going to downtown only.
Route starts at OIT and travels down Biehn Street, Oregon, and North 9th to Downtown. Then East Main Street
to Eberlein, Fred Meyer and Klamath Mall. Then out South 6th Street to Kellar Road. At Kellar Road the
route turns into Mainline # 1 North.

Riding the Bus – Two Buses – A Transfer
If your bus is on Route 4/6 or Route 3/5, you may have to transfer to the Mainline Route to complete your trip.
Transferring from one bus to another is easy to do and simple to accomplish by following these simple steps.
If you don’t know any of the local streets or landmarks, we’re in trouble already. Just skip ahead and call
the office for help.
First, you must read all of the schedule information and not skip ahead. The top of the page contains the
information about where the route starts. All of the information below that is the bus driving along the route.
Second, all of the times shown are “minutes after the hour”. A shown time of :15 means 8:15; 9:15; 10:15;
11:15; etc.
For this example we are going to catch the bus in Moyina Heights, transfer to the Mainline Route and go to
downtown Klamath Falls. We want to be downtown by no later than 10:15 AM.
The first sample schedule shown below indicates that the bus is at the corner of McClellan and Eberlein at
:30 (see arrow below). That means it will be there at approximately 9:30 AM, where we begin our journey. Be
sure to ask the driver for a transfer when you get on.
Follow along the schedule times and you can determine the route of the bus. Note that the bus arrives at the
Klamath Fairgrounds at :41. For our trip today that is 9:41 AM.
SAMPLE # 1:
FEEDER ROUTE 4 / 6
First bus leaves South Side Transfer @ 6:18AM for Route 4. Last bus at 6:18PM making one last loop.
First bus leaves South Side Transfer @ 6:48AM for Route 6. Last bus at 6:48PM making one last loop.
This route serves Moyina Heights and the suburbs of Summers Lane and Altamont Drive on a rotating basis. On
one half hour it serves Moyina Heights and on the other half hour it serves the Suburbs. Because of this
rotation each neighborhood receives bus service once per hour. The center focus for both sections is the
South Side Transfer Station and connections to the Mainline Routes (one going North and one going South
every connection).

SOUTH TRANSFER STATION :48
Now that you are at the South Transfer Station you must transfer to the bus going downtown. That would be any Northbound
bus. The bus you want is Mainline # 2 North, as shown in the example below.
Simply get on the bus and give the driver your transfer as the fare payment (see transfer rules for
restrictions). As you can see by the sample shown, the Northbound bus arrives downtown at 9:58 AM in plenty of
time for your 10:15 AM appointment.
SAMPLE # 2:
MAINLINE # 2 NORTH
First Bus at Gatewood @ 6:25AM Last Bus Leaves @ 7:27PM going to South Transfer Station only.
This route starts at Gatewood and travels Homedale to South 6th to the South Transfer Station. The route then travels to
Fred Meyer, VandenBerg, and Alameda Bypass to Main Street and on to Downtown. finally the route travels Main
Street to Esplanade, Eldorado, and Daggett to MWMC and O.I.T. At O.I.T the route turns into Route # 1 South
which is above on this page.
